Veterinary Science
Step into the World of Veterinary Medicine
For students driven to work with animals, this program provides a hands-on, deeply comprehensive foundation in animal care, husbandry, and clinical medicine, preparing you for immediate clinic employment or competitive postsecondary veterinary degrees.
A Day in the Clinic Lab
Our veterinary science lab mirrors a real veterinary hospital. You will work directly with domestic animals, practicing vital clinical procedures including safety restraints, cleanings, nail trims, and analyzing animal behavior. You will study the complex anatomy and physiology of domestic pets as well as large livestock species like horses, with a heavy emphasis on mastering professional medical terminology. To enrich your clinical studies, you will participate in job shadowing at local veterinary offices and take educational field trips to an equine facility, the Indianapolis Zoo, and the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Where This Path Leads
You will graduate fully prepared to enter the workforce at an entry level or transition smoothly into higher education. Most KACC students who apply secure direct acceptance into competitive college Veterinary Technology programs, including Purdue University and the Vet Tech Institute. You leave KACC ready to launch a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician in emergency care, general clinics, or to run a successful animal grooming enterprise.
