Public Safety
Protect and Serve Your Community
If you have a strong sense of justice and want to understand how our legal and safety systems work, Criminal Justice places you directly into the three core pillars of the American justice system: policing, courts, and corrections.
A Day on Patrol
Our public safety lab operates with high expectations and realistic training scenarios. You will actively participate in fingerprinting labs, criminal behavior analysis, mock trials, mock arrests, and realistic traffic stops. Beyond the classroom, you will explore forensic science up close through an extensive lineup of investigative field trips. Our students tour the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, the Howard County Jail, the IUK Crime Lab, and even participate in an active SWAT vehicle ride-along. You will also network weekly with guest experts, learning directly from active FBI agents, DEA officers, police detectives, prosecutors, and victim advocates.
Where This Path Leads
You will graduate with a deep, practical understanding of community safety and real-world legal operations. This pathway provides direct opportunities to earn your Emergency Telecommunicator Certification (via NAED), Certified Indiana County Jail Officer credentials (via ILEA), and Red Cross CPR certification. KACC graduates frequently move straight into careers, securing active employment within local county jails, sheriff's departments, and regional youth counseling facilities.
